SHELL for Windows
The web app runs everywhere. SHELL is what puts Tenari on your own machine — the only place your local-only memories are ever stored, and the only way Tenari can reach your files, your browser, or your camera, one grant at a time.
Checking for the latest build…
What SHELL adds
Your memories stay yoursLocal-only memories live on your machine and never reach our servers. Without SHELL, clearing your browser data destroys them.
Readable when Tenari isn'tLost your connection? SHELL still shows your local-only memories, straight off your own disk.
Permission, one grant at a timeShare a folder, and reading it and writing to it are two separate switches. Approve a website before Tenari can read a page. Revoke any of it whenever you like.
Nothing is ever really deletedEvery file the app moves goes to a restorable trash with a record of what happened and when.
Installing it
- Run the installer. It installs for your Windows account only, into your own AppData folder — there is no administrator prompt and nothing changes for other users on the PC.
- Expect a SmartScreen warning. This build is not code-signed yet, so Windows will say "Windows protected your PC". Choose More info → Run anyway. Verify the SHA-256 above first if you want to be certain of what you downloaded.
- Pair it with your account. The app shows a six-character code. Open Settings → SHELL in Tenari and enter it. The code expires after ten minutes.
- Grant what you want it to see. Nothing is shared until you say so, in the app's Access workspace.
Not code-signed yet. Signing is in progress. Until it lands, every install shows the
SmartScreen warning above. The surest check is the SHA-256 fingerprint.
What you need
- Operating system
- Windows 10 (64-bit) or newer
- Account
- A Tenari account — create one free
- Disk space
- About 200 MB, plus room for whatever you store locally
- Administrator rights
- Not needed
macOS and Linux come after the Windows install, update and uninstall contracts are proven. Running Tenari on a Raspberry Pi instead? That uses the same SHELL screen and needs no download.
Checking the download
Open PowerShell in your Downloads folder and compare the result with the SHA-256 above.
